Swim test policy

All participants under 15 must pass a swim test before they can go on the water.

Swim test requirements

  • Roll into deep water
  • Tread water for 1 minute
  • Swim 50m unassisted

These requirements align with the National Lifesaving Society’s Swim to Survive standard.

The swim test is run by coaches before the first session. If a participant does not pass, they cannot go on the water until they pass the test.

Registration fees are non-refundable if a participant is unable to pass the swim test.

Parents/guardians of all participants 15 to18 must confirm that participants are competent swimmers.

All participants over 18 must confirm that they are competent swimmers.

Exemptions

Special Olympics and Mini Canoe are exempt from this policy because these programs have small groups and close supervision.
